TrackHunter Privacy Policy
The short version
- TrackHunter has no servers of its own. It only talks to SoundCloud.
- It uses your existing SoundCloud sign-in only to add tracks you save to a private playlist on your own account.
- Your settings and saved/skipped marks stay in your browser.
- No analytics, no tracking, no ads, and nothing is sold or shared.
1Who we are
TrackHunter is a Chrome extension made by Crateful. It helps you find music on SoundCloud by listing the tracks an artist has liked, reposted and commented on. This policy explains what information the extension uses and what happens to it.
2What TrackHunter accesses
Public SoundCloud data. When you open Dig on an artist's profile, TrackHunter reads that artist's public likes, reposts and comments, and the public details of those tracks (title, artist, artwork, play counts, genre and similar). This is the same information anyone can see on SoundCloud.
Your SoundCloud sign-in. If you are signed in to soundcloud.com, TrackHunter reads SoundCloud's oauth_token cookie. It uses it only to:
- show which account your saves will go to, and
- create and update a private playlist called “Crateful Saves” on your account when you press Save or unsave a track.
The token is only ever sent to SoundCloud (api-v2.soundcloud.com). TrackHunter does not store it, log it, or send it anywhere else, and it does not read any other cookies. TrackHunter never sees your SoundCloud password.
Things you do in TrackHunter. Your filter settings, which tracks you have marked as saved or skipped, recently viewed artists, the ID of your Crateful Saves playlist, and SoundCloud's public web client ID are kept in Chrome's local extension storage on your device.
3What TrackHunter does not do
- It does not collect your name, email address, location, browsing history or any data from sites other than SoundCloud.
- It does not use analytics, tracking pixels, advertising or fingerprinting.
- It does not send any data to Crateful or to any third party. There is no TrackHunter server.
- It does not sell, rent or transfer your data, and does not use it for anything unrelated to the extension's purpose, including creditworthiness or lending.
- It does not run code downloaded from the internet. All of its code ships inside the extension.
4Permissions and why they're needed
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
storage | Keeping your settings and saved/skipped marks on your device. |
activeTab | Reading the current SoundCloud profile's address when you click the toolbar icon. |
cookies | Reading your SoundCloud sign-in so Save can add tracks to your playlist. |
scripting | Running the playlist save inside a soundcloud.com tab, because SoundCloud only accepts playlist changes from its own pages. |
| soundcloud.com, api-v2.soundcloud.com, a-v2.sndcdn.com | Showing the Dig button and view on SoundCloud, reading public track data, saving to your playlist, and reading SoundCloud's public client ID. |
5Your choices and deleting your data
- You can use Dig without signing in to SoundCloud. Only saving to a playlist needs a sign-in.
- Removing TrackHunter from Chrome deletes everything it stored on your device.
- The Crateful Saves playlist lives on your SoundCloud account. You can rename, edit or delete it on SoundCloud at any time.
- Signing out of SoundCloud stops TrackHunter from saving to your account.
6SoundCloud
TrackHunter is not made by or affiliated with SoundCloud. When it talks to SoundCloud, SoundCloud's own privacy policy applies to that data.
7Children
TrackHunter is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
8Changes to this policy
If TrackHunter starts handling data differently, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change before the new version of the extension is released.
